Bribery Act consultation seminars - 27th and 30th September 2010

The Home Office is launching a public consultation process on the new Bribery Act "Adequate Procedure" guidelines.

These proposed "Adequate Procedures" would be relied upon as a defence against prosecution under Section 7 of the Bribery Act - the so called corporate liability offence.

It is therefore vital that commercial organisations have a sound understanding of the level of adequate procedures they need to have in place, before the Act comes into Force in April 2011.

The City of London Police Centre of Excellence for Fraud are hosting two consultation seminars to help explain the proposals and encourage feedback to the Home Office during their consultation process. Both these seminars are FREE to attend, but due to limited availability spaces must be reserved in advance.

1. Monday 27th September 2010, 14.00 - 16.30, City Marketing Suite, 80 Basinghall Street, London EC2P.

2. Thursday 30th September 2010, 10.00 - 12.30, CH Rolph Hall, Wood Street Police Station, 37 Wood Street, London EC2P 2NQ

To reserve places, please e-mail DI Andrew Fyfe at andrew.fyfe@cityoflondon.pnn.police.uk

SOCA welcomes the NFIB - for the first time we will have a comprehensive intelligence picture and understanding of the full scale of fraud in the United Kingdom. This will enable a co-ordinated and appropriate law enforcement response and create a hostile environment for fraudsters. Sharon Lemon, Deputy Director Head of High Tech Crime at SOCA
